I was born and raised in Bombay, India into a Roman Catholic family of Mangalorean heritage. Growing up in metropolitan Bombay, my siblings and I were exposed to Goan, Mangalorean, Keralite and Anglo-Indian traditions, but were also exposed to Indian cuisine from all over the country thanks to the multi-cultural and multi-religious fabric of India. My parents decided to moved to Canada with our family when I was a teen and I've spent most of my life in Canada since. I've always wanted to connect to my roots, so I started that journey through cooking, asking my parents about our heritage and reminiscing fond memories of my childhood in India.
I completed high school in Mississauga and went on to complete my Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto-Mississauga. After a year of traveling, working and volunteering, I went on to complete my Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree at the University of Toronto. I have been living and practicing as a RN in the Neurosciences in Toronto since. I enjoy teaching, research, volunteering and am currently working on my Master of Nursing degree in Australia. Being a healthcare professional means I spend a lot of time working. So I've made it a point to find the time to cook, relax, engage in the arts, spend time with loved ones and travel every opportunity that I have. There's nothing quite like immersing yourself in another's culture.
I'd like to welcome you to my journey on learning how to cook, adult and discover new recipes. I hope you enjoy my adventures at the CrastoKitchen!
